The 30th of April 2014 marks the fantastic year I spent working at the Cowan Tetrapod Collection. I had the chance to work with astonishing supervisors, Ildiko Szabo and Chris Stinson, and learned more than I could have possibly known. The Cowan Tetrapod Collection is a splendid natural history museum for the general public, students and researchers. During this prosperous year, I had the privilege of handling collected birds by Peter Grant and other remarkable scientists who contributed to research advances in ornithology. I met fascinating people; I prepared several taxidermic specimens that will eventually reach the public or the research collection of the Beaty Biodiversity Museum. Finally, I considerably increased my knowledge of birds and mammals by contributing to the digitalization of the collection. Having a Natural History Museum at the heart of UBC is like having an Alibaba's treasure cave at our finger tips. Seeing its treasures was mind-blowing!
Special thanks to the Curator of the Cowan Tetrapod Avian Collection, Ildiko Szabo, and the Curator of the Cowan Tetrapod Mammal Collection, Chris Stinson.
